Weekend Events

When The Ark was launched in 2004, the main crux of our work was to provide safe, fun, alcohol-free events for young people at the weekend. This is still an important part of The Ark and we continue to provide these events throughout the year.

The Ark exists in response to a thorough consultation carried out in schools in which young people asked for a night-club style venue in the town. Created in response to this need, our weekend events also help to tackle the pressures of under-age drinking and becoming involved in anti-social behaviour that is so prevalent in the lives of many young people. Our weekend events provide not only a diversion away from this lifestyle, but also the opportunity for young people to engage with trained staff and volunteers who seek to be a positive role model in their lives.

Friday & Saturday Evenings

Open on Friday evenings, we host DJ nights, theme nights, photo booths, messy games and more. These nights are open to those in S1 - S3. Most of our events are free entry, with young people only needing money if they would like to purchase anything from our reasonably priced bar.

The Ark is no longer running a weekly Saturday night event but often runs special events and/or live music events (there may be a charge at the door for some of these events) - please check our Facebook page for more information.

The Ark does not exist to ‘make money’ from young people but to give them a safe place to go where they can chill and relax with friends under the supervision of trained and friendly staff. Any money taken over the door or on the bar goes straight back into the work of the project.
